ScienceDirect RELAUNCHED

ScienceDirect

The first year of the ScienceDirect service for IMechE members has proved a great success, so we have renewed the agreement giving members free access to up to 20 articles and chapters over the coming year.  ScienceDirect is the online platform of Elsevier, the world’s leading publisher of scientific, technical, and medical journals. The collection of 3,000 ejournals and 12,000 ebooks includes 14 out of the top 20 Impact Factor titles in mechanical engineering , and boasts equally strong coverage in the large range of other engineering and scientific fields members are active in.

Top journal titles include: Progress in energy and combustion science, Mechanism and machine theory, the International journal of mechanical sciences, the International journal of heat and mass transfer. Leading ebooks include the Pressure vessel design manual, Lees’ loss prevention in the process industries, and the Subsea engineering handbook.

Under the agreement with Elsevier, members can search the ScienceDirect database for the articles and chapters they need, request them online and receive the full text articles by email, up to a limit of 20 per member per year.  Please check out the service by logging in to the Virtual Library  today. Here you can access not only ScienceDirect but also the 4,000 full text ejournal titles available to members in the IMechE Proceedings and EBSCO databases, the 900 ebooks in the Knovel and Books24x7 services, and additional engineering resources, such as the Engineering Village abstracts database.
